Near-Net Forging of Titanium and Titanium Alloys with Low Friction and Low Work Hardening by Using Carbon-Supersaturated SKD11 Dies

چکیده

A new near-net forging procedure of titanium and alloys was proposed by using a carbon-supersaturated punch die. Due to the in situ formation carbon-based tribofilm on contact interface between dies work materials, low frictional state sustained through process even high reduction thickness. The hardening suppressed during forging; an additional annealing unnecessary whole forging. Pure ?-phase alloy wires were utilized describe their galling-free behavior when increasing Wires with diameter 3 mm upset single-shot thickness reached 58% upsetting pure wire 45% alloys, without lubricating materials or oils at room temperature. friction coefficient estimated be 0.05 inverse analysis. work-hardening described hardness mapping cross section. carbon tribofilms explained microstructural analysis, element mapping, Raman spectroscopy. This formed from isolated solute die sustain solid lubrication interface.

Titanium Alloys

Although originally discovered in the 18th century [1], the titanium industry did not experience any significant advancement until the middle of the 20th century through the development of the gas turbine engine [2]. Since then, the aerospace sector has dominated worldwide titanium use with applications in both engines and airframe structures [3]. The highly desirable combination of properties,...

Dental implant materials: commercially pure titanium and titanium alloys.

Manufacturers use six different titanium-based biomaterials to fabricate dental implants. Each of these materials, including four grades of commercially pure titanium and two titanium alloys, has distinct mechanical and physical properties. Clinicians should recognize these differences for optimal treatment planning and patient care.

Study on the Joining of Titanium and Aluminum Dissimilar Alloys by Friction Stir Welding

Titanium alloy TC1 and Aluminum alloy LF6 were butt jointed and lap jointed by friction stir welding (FSW), and the influence of process parameters on formation of weld surface, cross-section morphology and strength were studied. The results show that, Titanium and Aluminum dissimilar alloy is difficult to be butt joined by FSW, and some defects such as cracks and grooves are easy to occur. Whe...
